So, it’s here guys… moment we’ve been waiting for. SBF is going to the court and here are some interesting facts about this exciting crypto event that is happening right now
Sam Bankman-Fried is currently facing a criminal trial in downtown Manhattan that commenced on Tuesday, October 2, for a litany of alleged financial crimes. Bankman-Fried stands accused of effectively stealing roughly $8 billion worth of cryptocurrency and other funds belonging to large and small speculators worldwide. The trial is scheduled to last six weeks, with court in session on average four days a week, and it notably does not allow cameras in the courtroom. Bankman-Fried is coming to court from jail, where he was remanded after leaking portions of former Alameda Research CEO Caroline Ellison’s diary, which led to allegations of attempted witness tampering. The presiding judge for the trial is Judge Lewis Kaplan, a 78-year-old Harvard Law School graduate. If convicted on all charges, Bankman-Fried could face a potential sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison, with a theoretical maximum of 115 years. Witnesses expected to testify include former colleagues and associates who have accepted plea deals to testify against Bankman-Fried. The defense’s argument may include an ‘advice of counsel’ defense, but this has limitations. There is also a possibility of a second trial on additional charges in the future.
What’s gonna happen, what do you think the results of this trial will be?
